meaningful stuff about eggs and cows and such

O.k., whenever i wrote last, i rambled on and on about my chickens, posted one little picture of the cat at the end of my post, and got 4 million comments on how cute the cat is(exaggeration inserted for emphasis) and one combo compliment on office, chickens, and cat. So i have come to understand that "my readers," whatever that means, might not be as entranced with my beautiful and truly amazing chickens as i am. Thus i feel the need to explain. After working in the worlds of offices and paperwork for 10 plus years, last August, i was promoted to the position of Full Time Homemaker. This is a position for which i had NO experience. However, Full Time Homemaker is a position i have dreamed of for much of my adult life. Now, i know what you might be thinking. And i didn't want to be a full time homemaker just so i could sit on my toosh. While the sick time benefits are outstanding, being a homemaker, to me, means much more than cleaning the house and making dinner. Wh

7 1/2 weeks is amazing

Well, i took pictures of my chickens for you 3 1/2 weeks ago. And i think someone is sneaking steroids into their food when i'm not looking because they are gigantic. And they seem to grow faster as time goes on. It's probably hard to tell from my pictures, but i don't think i expected them to get this big as full grown adults, and they're 10 1/2 weeks old right now. They don't like it, but i try to make a habit of picking them up and looking them over once a week-ish or so. And they are getting HEAVY! They're also very pretty close up. I know, chickens aren't supposed to be pretty. But they are! Their feathers are so soft, and it's fascinating to look at how they grow. Who but God would've thought of that? While i was typing this post, i was looking at my older pictures of the chicks, and i got the idea to put one of the girls in the pen that we had them in when we first got them. So i had to go chase chickens and isolate one (she got prett

all kinds of blessings

A little background... My husband and i had been using a particular computer for years - it was a hand-me-down from his dad, and it was really old when we got it. The disk drive didn't work at all, it couldn't write to cd's, and it couldn't even comprehend a thumb drive. Then a yearish or so ago, our friend, Jeremy, who was working for a resale shop at the time, called and said that a computer had been donated. Do we want it? Jeremy blessed us with a decently modern, working, efficient computer for only $30. I am using that computer at this moment. It was such an unbelievable blessing. It's not a fancy computer. It's an e-machine, most likely the $400 deal from Wal-mart. But it does a great job! More background... Since we moved into our new-to-us little house, our bedroom/office has been.....well, sort of shameful. I just couldn't get a handle on getting it organized. It became the place we stored our boxes. The dirt and very thick dust were igno

love letters on the sidewalk

Today, my dear friend, Meredith, and her darling daughter, Rachel, came to see me in my little woodland home. Above is the proof. Sadly, i couldn't find a way to hold the camera still, so it's a little fuzzy, but you still can believe me. =) Anyway, the point is we had a nice visit that had been long overdue. While she was here, we went shopping....i know, why would we shop in the middle of nowhere? Well, we just did. And while we were shopping, Meredith wanted to purchase some sidewalk chalk for my neighbor friend, Skyler. He's eight. So Meredith purchased said chalk. After Meredith left, Skyler used the chalk on our porch. And when he was done, he burst inside to tell me to "come look!" Clearly, this is a picture of a magical flying car and a person with a rainbow over the grass. This one, if you can't make it out, is a picture of "God's cross." and beside God's cross, is written the words, "you are the best." I'm

To My Mom

Image
Whenever i think about saying nice things about my mom, i automatically start crying -- because my mother's love evokes so much emotion in me that i can't really keep it in. My mom is one of the gentlest creatures i have ever known...and one of the strongest. My mom's laughter is my favorite sound i have heard so far. In fact, one of the reasons i came to love my husband is that he can make my mom laugh - a lot. My mom loves Jesus. I know because of all the times i saw her up early in the morning - before anyone else, spending time in His word. And because one of the only times i saw her cry was in His presence. My loves me. I can tell because of the way i feel when she puts her arm around my shoulders and makes me feel that i belong. My mom is unassuming, graceful, kind, faithful, true, generous, giving, and wise. My mom is a baton passer - of faith and unconditional trust in our living God. The longer i live, the more that i realize what an extraordinary gift i was gi

Rip-Offs for $167.90 and Counting...Let's follow up on Cathy Anselmo/Anderson and her very white and apparently pricey teeth.

Several months ago, in the post Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please , i discussed the convenient location of Cathy Anselmo and her very bright teeth, along with Cara and her new wrinkle-free face......some of the entertaining ads that have been showing up on Facebook and other places online. To my surprise, this post has since generated more response that probably anything else i've written (11 comments). And we've discovered that Cathy lives in Orlando, Syracuse, Kansas City, Gambrills Maryland.....let's just say she and Cara get around. When i first wrote about Cathy and Cara, it was really just for my own entertainment. But now i am aware that Cara and Cathy are sucking in customers - customers who are going for a much longer ride than they anticipated. Let me explain. Ads like these are very attractive. You look at Cathy's teeth, and you think, "well, maybe it's a cheesy ad, but maybe that stuff really works..." And then you think, "what could it
