Taming the Wild Pigs
If you watch the news at all, you probably are aware that several big spending bills and the president's budget proposal are in congress right now, and they have the potential to spend trillions (with a "t") of money that doesn't actually exist, on a lot of projects that are designed to "help" the economy and to improve the lives of Americans. At first glance, it might seem like all these things are good things. Old bridges should to be rebuilt, poor people should be able to go to the doctor when they're sick, and children who live in the country would be better off if they had the same high speed internet access as children who live in the city. What's wrong with that? I have been searching my mind to think of a simple and succinct way to explain the danger of having the federal government pay for conveniences that have previously been the responsibility of the individual or the state, when i received an excellent email forward from my parents.
