It seems to me that sharing my faith or praying for the sick would never be an issue if i knew who i am. I need to be re-i.d.'d.

If i don't feel any obligation to fit in with this world, then i find no bondage in what this world may think about what i do.

A Metaphor about Rose Colored Glasses

I'm going to tell you a metaphor (sort of) about Rose-colored glasses. But first i have to tell you a boring story so it all makes more sense. When i started my new old job, i immediately found that i had a problem seeing in my office.  I can see fine at home, fine while driving, fine everywhere except in that office.  And i started getting headaches.  So i went to the eye doctor and said, "what's the deal?"  And the eye doctor said, "hmm, i don't know . . ."  so that was helpful. That's not all she said.  She was very nice and helpful, and we discussed the possibility of fluorescent light sensitivity and the possibility that tinted lenses might be useful. So i went home and did some googling and bought some cheap sun glasses and did some experimenting at work (you should see the looks you get when you wear shades at your desk), and i decided on pink tinted lenses.  My insurance will cover colors "pink 1" and "pink 2," but...

God lessons from becoming a farmer

Learning to be a farmer has been, and still is, one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.  I'm definitely still just a wannabe farmer, but as i learn and grow in experiences, i learn more about God and have a deeper understanding and experience of life in general. Last night, i had to make the decision to end the life of a sick chicken. This is definitely not the first time, but i remember the first time. I think that making choices about the lives of your livestock must be the most challenging part about being a farmer.  A farmer values the lives of his animals.  Yet he has to make decisions about their lives, almost as if the are commodities, which they also are. Last night, i found that the sadness in my heart and the tears on my face were pretty much the same as the very first time that i finally came to the conclusion that my charge's suffering should be ended.  This time, the decision making process was much easier, because i knew my options, ...
