Thanksgiving Weekend

i lOOOOOOOOOOOOve THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Unfortunately, i was sick all weekend long. But, i'm feeling much better now.

And there were plenty of turkey and dressing leftovers for staying home and eating while i was sick.

AND, i got to have a LONG Wonderful conversation with my fantastic mom who's lost far away in cold and snowy michigan. It was a little muffled, but i heard her pretty good. 8)

small triumphs in dog food

you, the world of people who know about dogs more than i do, probably already discovered this sort of thing, but i was pretty proud of myself, so i thought i'd share. since i raise chickens, i have grown accustomed to reading those dang product labels to figure out the differences between the different feeds.  i have read a LOT of product labels lately.  recently, i was able to apply my extremely limited experience to dog food. as you might imagine, dog food gets expensive around here lately.  up until recently, we had NINE dogs.  you'd be surprised how much those cute little puppies can consume. and we really do want to feed our puppies PUPPY food, but it's so dang much more expensive, that sometimes we just can't handle it, and we buy the cheapest looking morsel we can find.   but then those darling little puppies look you in the eye, and you think you're doing them wrong or something. so yesterday, i went to the store for dog food. again. back to my r...

RATM stands for R age A gainst T he M inivan.  Rage Against The Minivan is the name of a blog i follow, written by a woman named Kristen, whose blog i have been following ever since i saw her and her husband on The View (which i almost never watch, but happened to watch that day) talking about adoption, a subject that interests me a great deal. Why am i telling you this?  O.k., i'm getting to that. One of Kristen's aims in life in general and in her blog is to (i'm paraphrasing now) help rid the world of false stereotypes (as i understand it).  To that end, she has begun a weekly series spotlighting the struggles of different folks in different situations who share what they want the world to know about their particular circumstance--a dispelling of stereotypes. A Metaphor about Rose Colored Glasses

I'm going to tell you a metaphor (sort of) about Rose-colored glasses. But first i have to tell you a boring story so it all makes more sense. When i started my new old job, i immediately found that i had a problem seeing in my office.  I can see fine at home, fine while driving, fine everywhere except in that office.  And i started getting headaches.  So i went to the eye doctor and said, "what's the deal?"  And the eye doctor said, "hmm, i don't know . . ."  so that was helpful. That's not all she said.  She was very nice and helpful, and we discussed the possibility of fluorescent light sensitivity and the possibility that tinted lenses might be useful. So i went home and did some googling and bought some cheap sun glasses and did some experimenting at work (you should see the looks you get when you wear shades at your desk), and i decided on pink tinted lenses.  My insurance will cover colors "pink 1" and "pink 2," but...
