2009

It's nice to go back and remember what God has done in my life in the past year.

Let's see.

~We completed our first ever whole year in a house we OWN.

~I "dispatched" chickens by myself - or any other way would've been new for that matter.

~I completed my first whole year as an official full-time homemaker....and liked it.

~We learned that when we want to, we can funnel our money in the direction of more important priorities than what is instant and gratifying for only a moment.

~I have experienced knowing that God is listening to me when i pray - more than any other time i can remember.

~We added 'backyard chicken farmer' experience to our repertoire, and i learned more than i realized was even available to learn about the inner workings of a chicken.

~God provided provision (redundant i know) to supply all our needs abundantly.

And a thousand other things - and things that aren't bloggable. God shows Himself faithful every day to me...in ways that aren't expressible without tears - and even then. He packs so much into the days when we let Him. When i look back and realize that we've been here for only one year, it seems weird. Emotionally it seems like a decade ago.

In 2010 i hope to

~become a bee keeper

~become a chicken farmer who gets to actually collect eggs (eta: February or March)

~get better at 'dispatching' chickens

~talk the hubby into a milk goat

~train Jelly to herd chickens only when they need to be herded somewhere, instead of whenever she sees them

~plant and harvest a productive garden and learn to be a good gardener

~begin redesign of yard

~vacation in Michigan to visit family

~get a lot better at listening to God and obeying His will

Disclaimer: These are not new year's resolutions. I don't do those. I try to remember and keep in mind that every day is the first day of the rest of my life.

  1. Beth! This sounds wonderful. I haven't read the other blogs before this one, so don't know what "dispatching" means.... hmmmm.... giving meds so that they no longer have "patches"?

You are dear friend to me. Glad you are having such wonderful times out there on your farm.

    Love ya!

  2. Mama PC, dispatching, sending to freezer camp, processing, are all code phrases/words for the deed that is done to turn live chickens into lunch, dinner, and dumplings.

I'm glad you're reading. Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss a word. ;) Love you much!
