Delightfulness

Today was a lovely day.

DeAnna is a dear friend, whom i admire, and with whom i have the privilege of sharing family since she and i happen to be married to brothers.

DeAnna and her dear children have been on the hunt for some excellent walking sticks. for some wonderful imaginative project they have in mind.  Today DeAnna and young Abel came to my house to continue their search.  We ended up doing a lot of exploring and chicken loving too.

Abel made a wonderful chocolate cake, which they shared with us; i received jugs of much needed water and wonderful presents in my favorite colors, along with a lovely wonderful day.

So that was most of my day.  Incidentally, we found some wonderful walking stick material that somehow didn't make it to the pictures.  Sycamore trees are awesome.

    Wow! I'm in pictures ;) this is odd for me as we all well know. We loved our day too :) (And funny how those sticks never made it into the pics...stick pics coming soon ;)

Let's Break Bread

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Tip #1, Take Your Temperature :  The recipe will tell you to take a liquid, usually water or milk, and dissolve the yeast in it.  Usually the recipe says something like "warm water," or "almost hot to the touch," or something else i can't properly decipher with my finger tips.  So i use a wonderful modern invention called a thermometer.   The two types of yeast readily available in th...

Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas! I have to admit that if i lived in say, Houston, or Spring, or The Woodlands, i would probably not have thought much about some random woman who discovered the fountain of youth coincid...
