The Post Hundreds

Do you smell it?

Can you close your eyes and foresee it?

Can you feel it on your skin?

I think.

I hope.

I'm ready just to whisper it.

There might be an autumn at the end of this summer.

It must be.

It hasn't been 100 degrees outside for like a week.

Is this the post-hundreds?

I thought it might never come.

    Yep! It's the first of September and it's getting cooler here, too. By the end of the week it's supposed to be really coooool!
    I haven't smelled it yet, but I really think autumn is right around the corner. I hope we'll have a real fall instead of just going from summer to winter. Enjoy yours!

    I think so too, it's hasn't been 100 all week, I am praying it doesn't come back.

    I am near Houston, where are you? Maybe we could swap some chickens, lol

    I'm about an hour north, in San Jacinto Co. I'm trying to perfect my incubating methods, so i always have babies if you know anyone who needs to start their flock or just wants to enjoy the beauty of baby chickdom. ;)

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Tip #1, Take Your Temperature :  The recipe will tell you to take a liquid, usually water or milk, and dissolve the yeast in it.  Usually the recipe says something like "warm water," or "almost hot to the touch," or something else i can't properly decipher with my finger tips.  So i use a wonderful modern invention called a thermometer.   The two types of yeast readily available in th...

Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas! I have to admit that if i lived in say, Houston, or Spring, or The Woodlands, i would probably not have thought much about some random woman who discovered the fountain of youth coincid...
