Animal Management Success!

Tonight, all of my chickens put themselves to bed in the right place.  The incubator babies were all accounted for in their safety cage (as opposed to sleeping next to the run's gate).  My broody hen, Mathilde, finally took her chicks to the coop at night (after having to be carried there night after night), and no one rebelled and decided to stay outside.  All forty-eight chickens, inside. And i didn't have to put them there.  This is a wonderful success.

To top it off, each of my three dogs, peaceably followed directions at dinner time and ate out of his or her own bowl without anyone wrestling or growling or fussing over the matter in any way.

Maybe i'm doing something right.

After such a great streak, i'm sleepy, and i'm going to manage myself to bed before my streak is broken.

Let's Break Bread

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas!
