Stronger, wiser, and funnier

Do you remember how I told you that trouble makes us stronger? It's true. Though I have to admit that i'm almost ready to lie back and take a break and admire my new muscles. Our most recent trouble inspired change ... lots of it, and I am very excited about that. Also, I think that this new adventure is teaching me and my gun stinging super hero more about being partners, and we're taking new steps forward. Pretty awesome. Right now, i'm sitting in a room full of boxes and bags of recently cleaned clothes and shoes and whatnot that i'm frankly not sure what to do with. Did we really have this much stuff in our little house? Where did we put it all, and what did we use it for? I see a big donation to something in our future. We're facing a remodel/restoration, repairs of cars, record heat and drought, and yet i'm at peace and looking forward to how i'll grow and change and learn through it all. This is new for me. It's amazing how God changes us, and I am forever grateful.ready

Let's Break Bread

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Tip #1, Take Your Temperature :  The recipe will tell you to take a liquid, usually water or milk, and dissolve the yeast in it.  Usually the recipe says something like "warm water," or "almost hot to the touch," or something else i can't properly decipher with my finger tips.  So i use a wonderful modern invention called a thermometer.   The two types of yeast readily available in th...

Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas!
