dreaming of napping

The weather is so beautiful today!

When i was in college, i would use a day like today for a nice long nap in the grass.  And no one looks at you funny for doing something so free-spirited as that when you're in college.  Everyone expects you to hear your own drummer and whatnot when you're in college.

But right now, i really want to lay myself down on that pretty patch of grass right there, pretend that fire ants don't really exist in Texas, and take a nice long nap in this perfect weather, until the heat of the afternoon sweats me to soggy, happy wakefulness.

But in the study world of professionalism and strangers walking by on the sidewalk, someone would probably call an ambulance, and then I'd have to pretend to be sick so that I wouldn't get fired for sleeping the afternoon away in the grass beside the  courthouse.

Sometimes being a grown-up is not nearly as much fun as i always thought it would be.

    you could drive over here on your lunch hour and lay on the brown crunchy stuff all over the JoyHouse lawn.....

Let's Break Bread

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Tip #1, Take Your Temperature :  The recipe will tell you to take a liquid, usually water or milk, and dissolve the yeast in it.  Usually the recipe says something like "warm water," or "almost hot to the touch," or something else i can't properly decipher with my finger tips.  So i use a wonderful modern invention called a thermometer.   The two types of yeast readily available in th...

Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas!
