I have neglected y'all here in blogland.  I hope you'll accept my apologies.

We're all a twitter, here in Rogers Country, because we are anticipating the forthcoming honor of a visitation from my beloved Mom.


O.k., that picture's a few years old, but it's cute, so here it is.

In the days and weeks up 'til now, i have taken notice of the surprising percentage of my friends who don't have their mothers on this earth anymore...reason to be even more grateful for the wonderful blessing of my mom.

And now that i'm already crying, all early in the morning, i'll just tell you that i'm picking her up from the airport this afternoon.

And i can't wait.

Maybe i'll get an updated picture.

    Oh, what I would give to be headed to the airport today to get my mom!! She's nine hundred miles away and planning a trip in June.

    My mom is 83 and lives three miles away. I am heading there in an hour to grab her grocery list and head of to shop. I am not a perfect mother, and neither was she, but I just love her so much and she is so dear to me. I need to tell her that more often....

Let's Break Bread

Let me start by saying that i am NOT an expert in bread-making.  I like to make bread, and my husband likes me to make bread, and i have messed up a lot of bread.  Also i have done a lot of reading and experimenting to learn how to stop messing up the bread. This i will share with you. Today i made basic white bread from a very old Betty Crocker cook book, and i took pictures for you. Every yeast bread recipe made with kneaded dough has certain elements to it, and the following very few tips can be used with any of them......no matter what the recipe says you should do. Tip #1, Take Your Temperature :  The recipe will tell you to take a liquid, usually water or milk, and dissolve the yeast in it.  Usually the recipe says something like "warm water," or "almost hot to the touch," or something else i can't properly decipher with my finger tips.  So i use a wonderful modern invention called a thermometer.   The two types of yeast readily available in th...

Ridiculous Ads for $100 Please

If you use Facebook, you may have noticed a vertical row of advertisements on the right hand column of your profile page that can be very entertaining. If you're not a Facebook user, please keep reading, i'll fill you in. Here's one of those ads: The heading reads "Women Born in 70s Look 25" . First of all, i take issue with that particular phenomenon being very miraculous, but let me know how this works for you. When i click on this link i learn about a middle-aged woman named Cara, who used to have wrinkles. Cara was 43 years old (NOT born in the 70s) when she stumbled upon a miracle cure for aging and wrinkles, blah, blah, blah. The most interesting thing about Cara is that she just happens to live in Coldspring, Texas. Can you believe it? I live in Coldspring, Texas! I have to admit that if i lived in say, Houston, or Spring, or The Woodlands, i would probably not have thought much about some random woman who discovered the fountain of youth coincid...
